About Tech Was Here

Tech Was Here is a QR service-tag platform that helps residential and commercial service companies make the equipment itself the easiest path back to their team.

The product

What Tech Was Here does

The product connects a physical service tag, an equipment-specific customer page, and a private team workspace so the next service conversation starts with the right company and unit.

Durable QR service tags

A technician places a serialized tag on the equipment and links it to the customer, site, and exact unit during the visit.

Equipment-specific customer pages

A later scan identifies the equipment and current service company so the customer can call or request help without searching.

A private team workspace

The service company receives requests with the claimed customer, site, equipment, and issue connected for faster follow-up.

Founder story

Why I started Tech Was Here.

As a homeowner, I’ve often had my best maintenance and repair experiences with independent service companies and technicians. They provide personal service, know their work, and are usually the people I would prefer to call again.

The problem is that I haven’t always saved their phone number or remembered the company’s details. Months later, when the equipment needs attention again, I find myself scrambling for the information. Sometimes I end up calling someone new and have to explain the equipment, its service history, and everything that happened before.

I started Tech Was Here to create a simpler way back. A QR service tag stays with the equipment and keeps the service company connected to the work it has already done. When help is needed again, the homeowner can scan the tag, identify the equipment, and contact the company that already knows it.

The workflow

How Tech Was Here works

One durable scan point carries the service relationship from the completed visit to the next request.

01 · The equipment

The technician tags the equipment.

A serialized tag gives each serviced unit a stable scan point that outlasts paperwork, magnets, and faded phone stickers.

02 · The customer

The customer scans when help is needed.

A homeowner can identify the unit and reach the current service company directly from the equipment itself.

03 · The team

The service company receives the request.

Your office receives the customer, site, and unit context together, ready for the workflow it already runs.

The difference

What makes Tech Was Here different

Tech Was Here is built around the physical equipment and the next service request, rather than a generic company homepage or a customer account wall.

One tag identifies one unit

Each serialized tag resolves to a specific piece of equipment, not a generic contact page or an untracked QR code.

No customer app or login

The phone camera opens the equipment page. A customer can identify the unit, call, or request help without creating an account.

The service company stays visible

The physical tags stay neutral until claimed. After setup, the scan page identifies the current service company and its contact information.

Useful context travels with the request

The team receives the claimed customer, site, equipment, and issue together instead of asking the customer to reconstruct the history.

Simple, published pricing

Start with 25 tags and three months free. The paid plan is $10 per active team member per month, with no annual plan required.
